E4C Urban Green

"If the bee disappeared off the face of the Earth, man would only have four years left to live."

Bees are fundamental for the maintenance of biodiversity and for our fruit and vegetables provision. Through pollination, in fact, they contribute to the reproduction of countless plant species.

The construction of larger and larger urban areas, the consumption of soil and the indiscriminate use of pesticides in agriculture are among the main causes of the gradual disappearance of bees, with the risks that follow: impoverishment of crops and soaring prices of fruits and vegetables. The creation of new green areas and the care of existing ones have positive effects on the health and well-being of all species, including bees and humans.

The objective of the project is to raise awareness on the importance of green areas in urban contexts, highlighting their benefits: reduction of soil and air temperature, higher quantity of oxygen and reduction of CO2 in the atmosphere, enhancement of biodiversity, creation of more pleasant and relaxing environments.
